Statement as of 9:41 AM MDT on March 19, 2010
... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 am MDT
Saturday...
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 am MDT
Saturday.
* Location... the San Luis valley... the lower elevations of
Saguache County... southern El Paso County... Pueblo County...
Otero County... Las Animas County... and the lower elevations of
Huerfano County.
* Cause and timing... a winter storm moving in from the Pacific
northwest will bring snow to the region into tonight.
* Snow accumulation... over the San Luis valley... 2 to 5 inches
of snow is expected. Lower amounts may occur in the Central
Valley including Alamosa while locally higher amounts are
possible closer to the mountains. Over the plains... 1 to 4
inches of snow are expected.
* Wind... north to northeast winds at 15 to 25 mph.
* Impact... snow packed roadways are expected.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
If you are planning to travel in the advisory area during the
time of the advisory... listen to the latest weather forecast and
consider traveling at another time or by another Route.
