* Urban Flood Advisory for minor flooding of poor drainage areas in... Putnam County in southeast New York... Fairfield County in southern Connecticut... Middlesex County in southern Connecticut... New Haven County in southern Connecticut... New London County in southern Connecticut...
* until 930 PM EST...
* at 623 PM EST... National Weather Service Doppler radar showed moderate to heavy rain moving north-northwest across the advisory area. Rainfall rates of three quarters of an inch to an inch an hour are possible.
Up to one and a half inches of precipitation has fallen across the advisory area so far. This will result in flooding of urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Small creeks and streams will flood quickly... possibly covering roads and flooding nearby low areas.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. Most flooding deaths occur in automobiles. Turn around and find another Route.
Be prepared to take action if the flooding threat increases... or a warning is issued.

The Flood Watch continues for
* a portion of southern Connecticut... including the following areas... northern Fairfield... northern Middlesex... northern New Haven... northern New London... southern Fairfield... southern Middlesex... southern New Haven and southern New London.
* Through Sunday evening
* rain... heavy at times... will continue through this evening. Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are possible by Sunday afternoon with localized amounts up to 5 inches. Occasional light rain is expected Sunday night into Monday.
* Urban and poor drainage flooding will likely make some flood prone roadways impassable. Streams and rivers could also exceed bank-full levels. In addition... due to the saturated grounds... basement flooding could be experienced.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

A High Wind Warning remains in effect until 1 am EST Sunday.
Easterly winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph can be expected through this evening. Isolated gusts of up to 70 mph are possible.
Winds of this magnitude will be capable of producing property damage and power outages due to fallen trees and limbs.
The winds will gradually diminish late tonight.

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
