* at 821 am EDT Thursday river levels continue to fall and many small rivers in eastern Massachusetts have fallen into minor flood. The exceptions are the Taunton river in Bridgewater which has lowered from major flood into now moderate flood... and the Ipswich river in Ipswich remains in moderate flood. Both of these rivers continue to fall slowly but will likely remain in moderate flood into at least Friday.

The Jones river in Kingston and the Nashua River in Clinton should fall below flood stage some time this afternoon. The monatiquot river in East Braintree should fall below flood stage some time this afternoon or evening.
A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported. Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected. However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway... including underpasses. The water may be too deep to allow vehicles to cross safely... or the roadway may be undermined.
A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. If you are in the warning area move to higher ground immediately. Residents living near streams and creeks should take immediate action to protect life and property. Do not attempt to cross flooded areas by foot or in your vehicle.
The Flood Warning continues for the Spicket River near Methuen. * At 4:01 am Thursday the stage was 8.8 feet. * Flood stage is 8.0 feet. * Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by Friday morning. * Impact... at 9.0 feet... floodwaters are expected to block low lying roadways in Salem... Methuen and Lawrence... including some area homes and businesses. Flooded roads include Erving Avenue in Lawrence... and Hampshire Road in Salem.

The Flood Warning continues for the Merrimack River at Lawrence. * At 5:00 am Thursday the estimated stage was 20.3 feet. * Flood stage is 20.0 feet. * Minor flooding is occurring. * Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by late this morning. * Impact... at 22.0 feet... minor lowland flooding is expected along the Merrimack River near Lawrence. This will affect some businesses along the river susceptible to basement flooding.
