A high surf advisory remains in effect until 1 am EST Sunday.
9 to 10 foot southeast swells continue off the Outer Banks this afternoon. These large swells will continue to produce rough surf along the beaches this evening. Seas will begin to decrease later tonight as winds diminish and the swell slowly subsides. High tide will occur around 6 PM... at which point minor beach erosion from large breakers could occur... especially from from Hatteras Village to Avon.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area... producing dangerous rip currents and localized beach erosion.
