... Flood Warning for melting snow remains in effect for Dickey...
McIntosh... LaMoure and Logan counties until 600 PM CDT Tuesday...

Overland and river flooding continues across much of the southern
James River Valley in North Dakota. Elevated water levels were noted
on the James River... Maple River... Bear Creek and Cottonwood Creek.
Many roads are also underwater across the area... with water ponding
in low lying areas.

In McIntosh County... a Road near Lake Hoskins about 3 miles west of
Ashley was closed due to a washout.

The department of emergency services in LaMoure County reported
continued overland flooding and some roads under water in places
across the County. There were also reports of culverts washed out.

Water was beginning to flow over the spillway at Cottonwood Creek
dam near Lake LaMoure in southern LaMoure County. The water was
flowing around 6 inches deep. This is being constantly monitored.

Temperatures reaching the upper 40s to lower 50s today and Monday
will accelerate the rate of melting snow. Cooler conditions are
expected Tuesday with highs around 40.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to
cross bridges... dips... or other low spots if water covers the
roadway. Never try to cross a flowing stream... even a small one... on
foot or in a vehicle.

In hilly terrain... there are hundreds of low water crossings which
are potentially dangerous in snow melt run off. Do not attempt to
travel across flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It only takes a
few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.

A Flood Warning for melting snow remains in effect through Tuesday
afternoon for Dickey... LaMoure... Logan and McIntosh counties.
Elevated water levels were noted in the James River... Maple River
and Bear Creek. Multiple township roads remain under water with
additional standing water in low lying areas. There is water moving
over the spillway at the dam on Lake LaMoure. This is being
monitored. Warmer temperatures on Sunday and Monday will increase
the potential for excessive runoff with additional Road closures
possible. In addition the warmer temperatures may cause overland
and ice jam flooding in the Cannonball... heart and Knife River
basins.

A Flood Watch for ice jams remains in effect through Sunday
evening... along the little Missouri River in western North Dakota. A
large ice flow on the little Missouri River which has reached the
north unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park will continue to
impact McKenzie County Sunday. This ice flow has a history of
producing ice jams at constrictions in the river... such as bends
or near bridges.

A Flood Watch for overland flooding has been issued for The
Heart... knife and Cannonball river basins through Tuesday morning.

In the Missouri River basin... Beaver Creek below Linton has fallen
below major flood stage. However... the river level is forecast to
rise back above major flood stage on Monday evening and crest around 14
feet by Wednesday. Stages along Beaver Creek are expected to
fluctuate 1 to 2 feet as a result of ice conditions. Apple Creek
near Menoken is forecast to remain near minor flood stage of 15
feet through next week.

In the James River basin... the river levels at Ludden dam are in
minor flood and continue to rise. Flood stage is 12 feet. The river
is expected to rise through next week... cresting around 16.7 by next
Sunday..in moderate flood. As of Sunday morning... the river level at
LaMoure was in minor flood at 15.8 feet... and is forecast to crest
around 16.4 feet on Thursday... in moderate flood. Flood stage at
LaMoure is 14 feet. The Pipestem creek near Pingree continues in
minor flood stage... and will continue to fluctuate between 9 and 10
feet this week.

In the Souris basin... Willow Creek near Willow City is seeing within
bank rises. Flood stage at Willow City is 10 feet. The river will
rise to near flood stage by the middle of this week. However ice
action on the river may cause rapid fluctuations and because of this
there is quite a bit of uncertainty on this river.
