The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a Winter
Storm Watch... which is in effect from Thursday evening through
Friday afternoon.
* Timing... rain Thursday afternoon should transition to snow
across central Wyoming early Thursday evening. Snow is expected
to spread south into southern Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle
late Thursday evening into Friday morning and persist through
much of the day Friday.
* Total snow accumulations... 5 to 9 inches across valley areas
with 10 to 14 inches possible for the Laramie and Medicine Bow
ranges.
* Winds/visibilities... north to northeast winds are expected to
increase to 15 to 25 mph with higher gusts behind a cold front
Thursday night into Friday leading to blowing and drifting snow.
Visibilities could be significantly be reduced by a combination
of snow and blowing snow.
* Impacts... should the heavy snow materialize Thursday night into
Friday... significant impacts to interstates and state highways
will be possible. Hazardous driving conditions will be possible
Thursday night into Friday afternoon.
