... Bout of wintry weather expected Friday into Saturday...
Spring like conditions across New Mexico will come to an abrupt end on Friday as an upper level storm system and associated cold front move across the region. High temperatures across the eastern plains are likely to be reached during Friday morning before falling sharply during Friday afternoon and evening. The cold airmass will impact all of the state by Friday night.
Snow levels will lower with many valley and lower elevation areas observing rain changing to snow. The greatest potential for significant snow accumulations is expected to be in the northern mountains... but many portions of northern and central New Mexico may see light to perhaps moderate snowfall amounts... especially for areas to the east of the Central Mountain chain and along Interstate 40. Strong and gusty winds may create areas of blowing snow causing reduced visibilities and hazardous driving conditions.
If you are planning travel or outdoor activities late this week across the state... stay tuned to the latest forecasts and statements regarding this unsettled weather scenario.
