... Winds and cooler weather moving into southern New Mexico and West Texas...
A storm system continues dropping southeastward towards New Mexico this morning. The system will be over New Mexico by this evening and into the Texas Panhandle Saturday mid day. Ahead of the storm winds will increase to around 25 to 30 mph this afternoon with a few higher gusts 40 mph... and a few areas of blowing dust are possible. By late this afternoon into much of tonight... a chance of showers will exist from the Gila WIlderness across to the Sacramento Mountains. Snow levels will start out quite high but by Saturday morning... will fall to around 5000 feet in the Sacramento Mountains... though significant snowfall is not expected at this time.
Late tonight and early Saturday morning a sharp cold front will move west across the area and significantly lower high temperatures for the weekend. High temperatures Saturday will be about 15 to 20 degrees cooler than today.
For Saturday night... with clearing skies and light winds unseasonably cool temperatures will occur. Across The Lowlands urban temperatures will likely stay just above freezing,,,but in outlying areas the low temperature may drop to as cold as 25 to 30 degrees.
