Statement as of 3:27 AM EDT on March 14, 2010 ... Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening... The Flood Watch continues for * portions of Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania... including the following areas... in Ohio... Ashland... Ashtabula inland... Ashtabula Lakeshore... Crawford... Cuyahoga... Erie OH... Geauga... Hancock... Holmes... Huron... Knox... Lake... Lorain... Lucas... Mahoning... Marion... Medina... Morrow... Ottawa... Portage... Richland... Sandusky... Seneca... Stark... Summit... Trumbull... Wayne... wood and Wyandot. In northwest Pennsylvania... Crawford PA... northern Erie and southern Erie. * Through this evening * occasional showers are expected today across the watch area. Most of the rainfall today is expected to be light... but a few locations could see between a quarter and half inch of rainfall. This rain... combined with the fact that the ground is already saturated from recent snow melt and rainfall... could lead to some flooding across the region. * Typical flood prone areas are most at risk. Low lying areas and poor drainage areas will likely experience flooding. Motorists should be alert for high water... especially in the dark when it may be more difficult to recognize high water. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. Stay tuned to weather radio or other radio and TV stations for further details or updates |
