At noon...surface observations indicated temperatures of 32 degrees and below west of a line from Wichita Falls...to Tishomingo...to McAlester. Strong and gusty north winds were producing wind chill values around 10 degrees above zero across northwest Oklahoma to the middle 20s near Lake Texoma. Through 1 PM...much of central and southern Oklahoma will see only occasional moderate snow as the relatively dry center of a storm system tracks east. A few bands of brief heavy snow are still possible in this area. Snow is expected to persist across much of northern Oklahoma southwest into western Oklahoma and western North Texas...with snow expected to start again in central Oklahoma later this afternoon. Many roadways from northern into western Oklahoma being slick and hazardous. North wind speeds will average from 25 to 30 mph...with a few gusts over 40 mph. In areas such as the Wichita Mountains where terrain enhances wind speeds...gusts to 50 mph and greater will occur.
