An upper level low was located along the Red River near Madill. Although this was a strong weather system...the circulation had wrapped mid level dry air into the region from the south and west. This...along with turbulent low level winds...was limiting the amount of snow that was forming and reaching the ground. By late evening...radar trends showed snow decreasing in northern and central Oklahoma. More persistent snow showers were located closer to the upper low...extending from Clay County Texas to near Marietta...Ardmore...and Ada. This region could see new snow accumulation of around a half inch. Elsewhere...mainly trace amounts are expected through midnight. Later tonight...as the upper low slowly strengthens...more persistent light snow is expected to form in eastern Oklahoma...with some of this activity moving westward around the low...to reach locations such as Chandler... Holdenville...and Atoka. Meanwhile...windy conditions will continue overnight in much of the region. Winds will average 20 to 25 mph with gusts over 30 mph. Wherever there is falling snow...or snow already on the ground...some low drifting will occur...and visibility will be reduced under 2 miles at times. Many untreated roads were reported slick and hazardous in northern and parts of central and north central Oklahoma...while roads in other areas were slick in spots. Snowfall had generally ended to the west of a line from Enid to Lawton and Wichita Falls.
