Nowcast as of 2:52 PM CDT on March 21, 2010
Now
At just before 3 PM...a broad upper level storm system centered over the lower Mississippi Valley was moving slowly east. Low cloudiness on the back side of the system stretched as far west as Cherokee... Watonga Oklahoma...and Henrietta Texas...while the sky over the rest of Oklahoma and North Texas was clear. Scattered light rain and snow were falling east of Interstate 35. Through this afternoon...very light rain will be possible across portions of central Oklahoma...as far west as Stillwater... Oklahoma City...and Pauls Valley. Light snow may fall from Holdenville to Atoka and Durant...closer to the cold temperatures at the center of the upper low. Very little additional accumulation of snow is expected. All snow is expected to end by 6 PM. North winds at 20 to 30 mph are expected across most of the area this afternoon...with a few gusts to near 40 mph. Winds will be in the lower portion of this range across northwest Oklahoma. Wind speeds should decrease into the 15 to 20 mph range early this evening from western North Texas into southern and central Oklahoma...and should become light from the north in northwest Oklahoma.
