An upper level low was located along the Red River near Durant. Although this was a strong weather system... the circulation had wrapped mid level dry air into the region from the south and west. This... along with turbulent low level winds... was limiting the amount of snow that was forming and reaching the ground. At 2 am... radar showed areas of light snow over parts of eastern and south-central Oklahoma. In south-central Oklahoma... the snow was mainly in the area from Marietta to Durant. The snow over eastern Oklahoma may wrap back as far west as Chandler... Ada... and Holdenville toward morning. Meanwhile... windy conditions will continue overnight in much of the region. Winds will average 20 to 25 mph with gusts over 30 mph. Wherever there is snow on the ground... some drifting will occur...and visibilities will be reduced to less than 2 miles at times. Many untreated roads were reported to be slick and hazardous in parts of central and north central Oklahoma... while roads in other areas were slick in spots.
