Statement as of 4:14 AM CDT on March 21, 2010
... Fire Weather Watch is cancelled... ... Near critical fire weather conditions will remain possible this afternoon... The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has cancelled the Fire Weather Watch. Relative humidities this afternoon will drop into the teens out west... to near 20 percent along Highway 281 and around 30 percent east of Interstate 37. Moderate to strong northwest winds will also develop this afternoon... but should remain marginal out west to near critical east of Interstate 37. However... above normal rainfall and recent warm temperatures have allowed fuels to begin the green-up process. Therefore... the Fire Weather Watch has been cancelled and a Fire Danger Statement will be issued for elevated fire weather conditions.
