... Areas of dense fog this morning...
Residual low level moisture... mostly clear skies and light winds
have allowed for dense fog to form overnight across much of
central and north central Wisconsin. Widespread visibilities of
around 1/4 mile are likely especially west of a line from Iron
Mountain to Waupaca. Visibilities of just a few hundred feet are
also possible... especially in low-lying areas and along river
valleys.
Surface temperatures have also fallen to near or below freezing
across northern and central Wisconsin... thus roads may become
slippery... especially on bridges and overpasses.
Over east central Wisconsin and the Fox Valley... patchy dense fog
is also possible this morning... especially west of Highway 41.
The fog is expected to dissipate after 9am this morning.
Anyone traveling early this morning should be prepared to encounter
fog... and plan accordingly. If you encounter a fog bank while
driving on the Highway... always use your low-beam headlights and
slow down to a speed at which you can safely stop if you encounter
an animal or object in the roadway.
